What kind of doctor needs to do pregnancy test?


After realizing I was a little late for my period, I took two different pregnancy tests (different brands) last night and both were positive!
Now my question is, what kind of doctor do I call to do the "official" test? Do I need to go to an ob/gyn for this? I think it might take a couple of weeks to get in, and I don't think I can wait that long! Can I just go to a walk-in clinic or a general family doctor?

Your general doctor can do the test for you, but I would still call and make an OB/GYN appointment to get your prenatal appointments, tests and ultrasounds started.

MDsweetie 		I went to my family practitioner to confirm then called and scheduled a OBGYN appt after i confirmed! COngrats!

MDsweetie 		Just make your first prenatal visit, if you go to a clinic or a general practitioner they will just do a urine test that is no more sensitive than what you took at home.
