Pregnancy after Miscarriage, How Keep Anxiety under control?

I had a easy pregnancy with my now 21 month old son. Sadly, I just miscarried our second at 7.5 weeks. We know want to try again the first of the year, but the fear of this happening again is so overwhelming. Not helping, I just learned my mil had a miscarriage at 20 weeks. I thought I could breath easy after the first trimester, but not now!

How to your remain calm if pregnant after a miscarriage!

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's shocking to have one child and then have a miscarriage out of no where! That happened with my husband and I as well. He asked me soon after if I wanted to try again and I didn't know. I think that shocked him. We ended up talking and praying about it. The nurse told me it was best to wait a cycle and then try again. It was so scary! The thing is when you're pregnant you worry about everything anyway but having a miscarriage just cranks up the anxiety! I remember that when I got pregnant right away (the month we started trying again) I was sure I would see blood when I went to the bathroom, and almost expected it. It made it difficult to bond with my child and be happy about the pregnancy. Finally at the 17th week I talked to my mom of all people and she reminded me that things were totally out of my control! I had to give it to God. I realized I hadn't done that thinking if I was careful I would be able to prevent it but you can't. You can do everything right...

Well once I really let go and gave it to God I was able to enjoy my pregnancy. I knew it was out of my control so I had to accept that. Thankfully everything was fine:)
I will say you need to remind your MIL that the last thing you need right now is to hear her's or anyone else's horror stories. LOL ,my MIL usually so understanding and supportive started telling me about something horrible that happened she heard about with a pregnant woman and her baby! I wasn't too nice about it since I had the lovely hormones and told her that was really rude! She backed off and apologized for her thoughtlesness. Sometimes people just don't think.

So how to remain calm? Just keep an eye on things if you have any red flags but at the same time don't search for them. Pray and give it to God. Knowing that some things are out of our control actually helps to ease your mind and bring you peace. Yes, things can happen but we do more harm to ourselves and baby with the stress of worry. Time to let go:) Very rarely do things go wrong after the first trimester. Week 17 is when I let go.

Best of luck and blessings :)

I was one of the women that had a pregnancy loss at 20 weeks (mine was a few days before 20 weeks,so they considered it a late term miscarriage). At/after 20 weeks,it's a still birth. I conceived and carried 100% successfully after I had this happen to me,and didn't have any problems at all. It's not a common thing to lose a pregnancy that late, and doesn't happen often. A M/C at 7 1/2 weeks and a miscarriage at 20 weeks are totally different things. Early term miscarriages just mean that something wasn't right with the fetus (something wasn't forming right, something wasn't "in order") and that the body naturally "got rid" of it because of the something wrong with it. The way I got over the anxiety of it was after the time period when I lost my other pregnancy (I'd healthily had a daughter before that as well) I started to feel better, and realized that things were going to be ok. Once you get past that time period in the pregnancy, you'll start to feel better. 1/4 pregnancies typically end in early term miscarriage,so it's not that something is wrong with you that's causing you to not be able to carry to term.

well here is the thing only 3% of women have repeated miscarriages, usually if you had one you will never have another. I fell into the 3% of women :( i had 3 m/c and no births I am now pregnant 4.5 weeks and the fear is not going away. So I pray everything is ok with me and you. Good luck. I think you will be fine because you already had a child so the chances of having another is very low. good luck again
